I'm changing the transaxle seals and the rear diff mount bushing was toast. I removed the old one, cleaned out the hole and went to re-install. It went in by pushing 80% and then tapping with a hammer. From the old forum, there's a comment showing a homebrew install press device. Shouldn't this bushing be tight to prevent lateral movement? I think mine went in TOOOOOOOOO EASY!!!

Yeah, should be in there pretty good...how hard did you have to 'tap' with the hammer??

It took quite a shove and medium tapping with the hammer. It just seems like this bushing should take more pressure to install. I noticed the construction of this bushing is different than most. It has rubber ribs on the outer shell lining.

Your suggestion of locking screws may be the ticket. I just don't trust it's current setting. This car will be seriously tracked.

I wouldn't be too worried about that, the bushing won't take that much lateral load and it won't go anywhere if it moves.
Drilling a hole and putting a screw through that quite brittle aly casting is probably not such a good idea either, if that breaks you will have more problems then if the casing touches the body mount.

I've gotten the car back up and running now. After double checking for you comments on the final install situation, I'd have to agree there should be minimal lateral motion allowed. Thanks.
