Got a GTV6 1985 mk3, 46000 miles on clock, car has been standing for a while, need to sell her.

Now, the clutch is not disengaging, pedal feels nice and firm, clutch slave is new, and master recently replaced too brake system bled as well.

Any idea's how to free it up without taking the bloody thing apart???

Likely the result of corrosion of the pressure plate and flywheel facings jambing the driven plate.

With car on the road, place floor jack under De Dion tube and raise rear wheels just clear off the ground.

Start up engine in 1st gear.

After warm up, using 2-3000RPM, launch it off the jack using an assistant to drop the jack suddenly. Do this several times and it should burn off the corrosion and free up the driven plate.

CAUTION>this procedure is dangerous. :!: :!:

Otherwise you have to remove the clutch, clean up the surfaces and refit

Another way would be to put car in gear then try starting...while holding clutch on the floorboard

I like MD's procedure as it sounds far too dangerous, and I like dangerous things....

Drive very slow in first gear and keep the clutch in, put the pedal to the metal. a bit of abuse like this should get the plate going.

Hey Bruce, why not hang with Bazza for six months. His joint is a ton of laughs. Muggings, shootings, live incineration, car thefts at gun point, AIDS....
man, he's got it all going for ya.

..just think what you are missing out on already ! :D

Good to see more than one twisted party on this forum.. :D :D
