gearbox rebuild question

Post by benski105 »

Hi,
i have started rebuilding a gearbox for my gtv.
looking at both of my manuals there are two different clearances specified for the distance between the selector fork and selector hub.
one says 0.2mm-0.5mm the other says 0.7mm-0.9mm.

does anyone out there have any idea why they may be different.
the gearbox im building is a 75 ts if that makes any difference.

cheers

Measure them all, if they look alright and have the same clearances disregard the manual.
When you fix the forks back on the axles make sure everything is in the middle, i.e. shift gate/axle and fork.

thanks Mats.
they all have close to 1mm free play.
is this too excessive?
have you had forks built up before?
does it make much difference to the shift?
it is for a race car so want it to be good.

cheers

I have honestly never measured. :)

I'd slap it together without hesitation, too much theory can make your racer a garage ornament... :?
