Gear Bushings Were Needed - Lightened Gears

Post by balocco211 »

I have transaxle gears in great shape but tired bushings.

Where can I source replacement gear bushings for transaxles? (116)

Is there even a part number from Alfa?

The answer is that one should exchange a 1.75 liter bottle of Stolichnaya vodka for a used box and pull out whatever you need...

Lightened gears from Merrit Carden turned out nice...

How do the lightened gears preform with increased power? (if you have a 24v with 255bhp @crank )
Wont they shatter combined with track use?
And would you recommend this for any Alfa?

This is actually pretty common practice on many racecars. If it's done by the specialists, nothing wrong should happen.

We have had at least two gearbox failures here in Sweden due to lightened gears, on racecars.
So it's not bulletproof.

Thanks for the reply! I'll stick with the heavier solid gears.
But I'll just make sure that thee sync-system is top notch, and make sure I've spare parts in the case of wear.

I have seen failures with cross drilling and concentric lightening, but not with concentric lightening alone....

as far as bushes, I see them pop up once and a while on ebay, but not a specific one
