The black one will restrain the buldge of compression under hard shaft rotation and thereby limit this rubber movement and contain a fractrure failure.(aim)

The triangular plates do sweet FA cause the donut is laready triangulated internally.

Brad

Take it as a given that if you want to take your car racing, you should have these covers to save the donuts.

Well ideally yes. Consider each coupling as part of a 3 link chain. If any link breaks, what have you got? No drive ! Well not exactly but you certainly wouldn't race with it. Vibrating like shit is ok to hobble home but not to race with.

Last Morgan Park meeting I went to that lasted over the week-end, one guy broke 5 donuts over 2 days and changed them all. ABSOLUTELY Ridiculous !!

Having a shroud over your couplings will minimise this problem. Just be sure that the fit around the internal circumference is close.

I used the part for a long time and have no problems with durability.

It's only really necessary to run cage on front one. Over thirty hard races I have never had a failure except a cenre coupling but that because I had an inferIor grey import part. To make it(cage) is another story. There must be a 4mm space between the cages as the engine moves and twists. To find a pipe with correct ID is impossible so you will have to machine a 10mm thick walll pipe. Then laser two plates .
If you have some one here in SA I have two sets left . Not cheap but you will save bell housing, flywheel and donut when it explodes. 250 AUD and you can collect. Easier said than done.

It only happened once but I had a segment break out of all three couplings AT THE SAME TIME.

Make of that what you will.
