platinum transaxle identification

I am considering the purchase of a Milano platinum parts car. I am wondering if there is any way to determine whether the transaxle is the original. The car is on its 4th owner and it lives in New Jersey, so I dont know what to think about it.
The car also has 14 inch wheels which make the owner think that maybe things have been swapped.
Can I jack up the rear end and spin a wheel and see which way the other wheel spins? What about external markings?
Does the Platinum have a different speedo cluster than other milanos?

True or false:
If the rear of the car in question is jacked up off the ground with the transmission in neutral, when the driver side wheel is spun by hand the passenger side wheel should not spin in the opposite direction on a car equiped with a limited slip differential.

I need to know if the parts car is equiped with lsd. Anybody know an easy way to do this?

I would assume that if the opposite wheel doesnt turn the opposite way then it is a LSD. But you know what you get when you assume...
