Barry I don't know if this is your situation but I have noticed that my pins have a nasty habit of trying to work their way out of the caliper.
When I'm at the track I check them after each run. There's some kind of a little "c" clip that should maintain their position but I guess they weaken over time.
Then again maybe you were looking for a little excitement and simply left them out

Murray, been thinking bout your pins migrating east...
You know our gray Loctite silicon??It will hold a wild bull in place, yet easy to remove when you need to..a blob on the pin head..?
P,Yea,it felt wild...on a track you expect stuff like this.and you can prepare for banging the wall..but on the freeway with other users AND you`re being a bit of a n asshole with your driving, its not reccomended..

Barry,
I wouldn't blame you for that.
In my wildest dreams, I wouldn't think of THAT as one place to save weight
Off the topic:
That's the most dangerous but second most stupid Alfa related thing I know. The record holder is still the bozo who installed a 1800 head gasket in a 2000 engine I bought
Nice fit, but the engine was running.

I had a pin going halfway out once, man the car started pulling to one side!
I just had installed new pads though so it was all my fault, hadn't driven the pin fully home. After that I started to think maybe it was a good idea to make longer pins and drill a hole for safety wire. It wan't a very nice experience at all.
