Its an old racing trick ..
You need 8 rims or at least 4 others that can be cut up to make the outer lips.
Machine the originals off and machine up the new outers from the donors..

Very important to have receiver type grooves for the 2 parts and then weld..

After welding,clean up and final machine-have them x-rayed and if they pass,paint and polish!

Kev used 4x 164 15 " wheels as donors..

Of course. You actually don't need 8 donor rims. Just add some matherial with the welding stick. Use alu for alu and steel 4 steel tho

The best welders can actually do even without any donor rims but just start drom the bolt holes. You just need to chose which bolt pattern to start from

Is done here a lot on steel wheels, but nobody is brave enough to do alloys.

Have a set of 15" 156 steel laying around for my TS is going to become 8J et19

Now when you talk about it I remember I actually have something weird myself.
The previous owner of My Alfetta GT made a spare wheel from an OE Alfetta wheel with a minispare outer part from a Saab or something.

It ain't all roses here guys! This mod is as old as the wheels themselves but it doesn't always work. Are you sure you can trust the clowns doing the welding? Have you any idea of the wheel stresses involved during cornering with sticky tires? You mentioned x-ray testing....yeah, maybe 1 out of 1000 people doing this resorts to it! All the others are "sure" of a good solid job...I admit its tempting, as I can't find Compomotive MO larger than the 8" max they make, but no thanks.

If you think about it Jim, you'll also get an idea of the cornering stress.
Now divide the stress with the length of the weld. And compare this to tiny parts in the suspension. As long as it's not Mg I'd trust my neighbor to do it.
Things need to be fairly straight thouhg.

On the other hand I don't really see the need for this. I'm not a fan of OE nor Compo MO wheels so I can get the right size directly.

The reason I talk about these wheels is that they resemble very closely the factory 75 GpA wheels, which were (!) 8.75"wide x16". The IMSA had...11" wide wheels but we're not building one. I would like to keep the looks reasonably close to the original where practical. This 'quasi'GpA project will really start moving after the damn book is out of the way.

Got me realy curious.
I always thought about the original campagnolo in 16\17 inches and wider then stock as well.
The down side for my opinion, is the add of weight
