I heard from a guy who tried it - and hated it.

maybe i just got used to it. it keeps weight transfer down but over bumps it makes the back kind of hop around (thats only ever happened on the street, though).
micke, maybe i am thinking of your floor the wrong way... does the bottom of the dedion hit the floor before full droop?

Nothing you attach to the suspension can reduce weight transfer. Weight transfer comes from acceleration which causes roll and pitch - not vice versa.

My tubes for the flat bottom are the limitations for droop.

No it does not! The weight transfer is identical unless you have found a way to lower the center of gravity of the car with that thing. Before you say it keeps the CG lower because you're holding the rear down I'd say that files under incredibly low/possibly imaginary pros 8) . That together with the huge con you just mentioned (chassis incompliance/axle hop) it's not a good mod.

Mats,

Didn't you put chains on the rear spring perches of your 75T at one point?

Wires, yes, to keep the springs from falling off because the shocks were too long i.e. the force on the spring when the wire came into play was close to 0.

you two crack me up... i will leave the thinking to the engineers! i dunno if this was just a piece of junk that alfa heaven made, scrapped, and then sold to the public. they did successfully run a gtv6 in sccs (among other things

I have used the Alfa Heaven Anti Dive device. I like it at the track, but not on the street. As I only drive at the track once or twice a year, it's not really worth it for me.

The wire thing Mats used is a common practice for the rally crowd. This week I started prepping the 75 1.8T for light track use and this spring issue came up when I removed 1.5 coils from the nice Harvey-Baily springs. When the car is on the lift and the DeDion hangs from the shocks, the springs are lodged on the top (I slid a suitable space-age sleeve on the 2 top coils = garden hose :) ) and the spring leaves the bottom perch completely. When it comes back down, it doesn't go in the right place! I don't like the wire solution so I'll make 2 large plastic cups ~2" high (with holes to drain water!)to bolt on the perch, ~same ID as the spring. I've seen this work before, no problems. A far better solution would be to modify the Bilsteins by shortening the rod ~2"... I wonder how easy that is on a lathe...it all depends on being able to fit the whole shock on, without having to disassemble it! What do the experts say?

Have done this years ago for a VW front shock. Works great, if you have access to the right tools! Grind of 2" and cut new thread. Be sure you don't damage the grinded surface of the axle where it has to seal.
A common 105 mod is making a tube to relocate (move up) the upper shock mounting point.

or just buy the RS version, same shock just shortened rod...

But yah, should be possible to shorten it without disassembly, mind the heat transfer though. :?
And of course, no clamping on the part of the rod that stays on the shock.

Mats, added some lathed spacers on to the rear shocks(25mm) to give me about 45mm of droop. No problem with springs relocating off there seats. Had very good racing today with no problems. I have also noticed that my rear brake lock up problem only occured on a particular straight which is more bumpy than usual through the braking zone(purposely done- no its not a motocross track).
Problem solved and thanks for input.
I will put pics up of a 'cup' I made for the rear springs(not RS) on the 24v as this was a problem for road use only.(springs coming out seats).
Pic from track.

You guys dont know it yet but Kevin deserves some serious applause here...The heads were removed from the race engine a few days ago as we all know from the pictures..
He put them back on and started the engine...A belt pulley then came loose(we've all done something like this when working under pressure and a deadline... )Bent valves and a holed piston!!!!!!

This guy rebuilt this engine in one day and then went racing on Sarturday!!!!!!!!
Nice one Junior!!!!!!! 8) 8)
French cars are shit and shit expensive to service and bloody awful and unreliable and expensive and friends don't let friends drive french cars and you wait years for parts.
