And today I had enough of the guy who did my engine work. Destroyed a few liners and did nothing according to my specs/wishes even though he said it was no biggie when I left the parts.
Now I have to go to another guy and measure everything he actually finished to see it it's within spec.

Going backwards yet again... :?

What's the rationale for the 2mm overbore? Can't you up the boost a little to compensate? Is it due to rules of points you get with boost as opposed to maximum bore?

2mm? 0.5mm over as far as I know. 8)
That was due to worn liners and in the beginning this was a bit of a cheapo project. Now that the shop-monkey managed to fcuk up 2 liners and I'm buying a brand new set the bore would have been kept stock but now the pistons are 0.5mm over... So I will have to bore the new set 0.5mm or buy new pistons.

Yes it's safe to say I won't go to that guy ever again. :|

I think it's safe to say I won't. I'm still going for it but I won't jeopardize a new engine so make a race date.

Such is life, sucky.

When you specifically ask for it when you drop off the stuff and the reply is "of course, no problem" and after a week get the "I couldn't do it because..." and then some lame excuse that is so obviously a lie you just wish you could punch them on the nose over the phone...

It gets even worse where I live because there are only TWO shops that do any significant type of engine work within 50 miles. One shop is better at some things than the other...so I have to plan every detail. Back and forth between them both with parts.. Real PITA.....

The one I'm switching to now is 130Km away, there are quite a few closer but they all have plenty of jobs to do = they really don't have to care about their customers...

The owner of this one is a friend and Alfa freak, perfect. :)

A set of new ES30 rear discs suddenly appeared yesterday in the ads, they disappeared just as fast only to reappear in my garage later yesterday evening... :)

Good times! Will prolly add the 105 series caliper mod at the same time. 8)

Sorry to hear of your trade help problems. Seems the world over is well stocked with fukcwitts. You will remember all my gripes about tooling up for the Brick. What a pain ! I could detail it all but what's the use? Good people are worth GOLD.

I was looking at those higher comp pistons too as I use 84.5 bores but my next engine will be 13.5:1 so no go.
