280 Rear wheel horsepower on a low budget

This guy bought my book, and built a budget supercharged engine. It has held up at at least two track events. It's using an Eaton supercharger from a Mercedes. It's mounted on the right side of the car and blows through an air to air intercooler into a reversed stock intake plenum.
The shocking part here, is that he lowered the compression by putting a 2.5 crank into a 3.0 engine. This is very unconventional, but somewhat surprisingly, it worked out well. 280hp at the wheels on stock components is pretty impressive.

Using the 2.5 crank in a 3.0 has been done before..
Stephan from Squadra did it a few years ago already on a 916 3.0 Spider. The 2.8 engine delivers an easy 330 bhp and 400Nm+.

And the SA 155 24v TT used this approach on a 24v 3.0.
One guy i spoke to was worried about the squish in the 12v heads but i can't see very much squish-area in the original design so i guess it's not too bad.

Engines i talked about are still in service...
Also no need to rev them hard since their turbo'ed. plenty of grunt from down low.

This is Han's car? I like to see the video of this SC car going against Niclas Rosengren's super modified 3.0 12V (232 whp). Super awesome!

I would like to see that to, although I know the SC/car easily takes the hp/dollar contest, which is my point.

It sure looks like Hans talking to the operator... Can't say I Recognize the car though, the Trollspeed sticker on the fender is interesting though, they make a lot of 700+ Hp RallyCross engines and the They were the ones who made the Pikes Peak engine for Per Eklund. I've often wondered about the 2.5 crank to drop CR - infact i even posed a question on another (non brand specific) forum asking about the outcomes of low boost, 9.5:1 3l vs higher boost, 8:1 2.8l.
One of these days I'll do something neat.

Wasn't Hans' car a high compression 3.0 with forged pistons, but it didn't quite work out for him so he just put in a 2.5 crank to drop the CR?

Isn't the days of the 8 or 7 CR days over? These days we're seeing superchagred S2000 with stock internals beating 360s.
I think with Greg's setup, good ecu, and good cooling a stock 3.0 12V with 9.5:1 can be in the E46 M3 territory, if the ring and pinion allows it.
For a road car, I think hi comp and low boost is the way to go.
