With the oldest GTV6 nearing 40 years in service, a forum to document projects and restoration seems sensible.

Thanks Wolfgang ! Crazy to see how small the counterweight is on. 2.0 V6 pulley . If you look at the same pulley type on the 3.2 the counter weight takes up nearly half the pulley.
What LS is in that gearbox ?

Hi Kevin, yes you´re right, this is because rotating mass of 3,2 internal parts is a lot heavier than internal 2,0 V6 TB parts.

Here are now some more pictures with some commands.

more pictures ...

please see at pic 53 ... 3 pcs of exhaust tapets were worn on surface, lucky that cams don´t have a damage.

pic 55 shoes OEM clima compressor with OEM power steering pump, 3rd part is power steering pump of an Alfa Spider 3,0 12V without clima.

I have done that conversation because clima anyhow was out of order and my friend don´t want it.
Big issue will be that I have to do some changes on connections of pump and position of hydraulic hoses.

That’s a serious amount of work ! Out of interest what is the size of the valves on that head .. not that it makes massive difference with forced induction. We’re all exhaust tappets worn all juts that one ?

Hi Kevin, as I have written only 3 pcs. exhaust tapets were damaged. I have changed also 3 pcs of inlet tapets just for sure because I have seen some scratches. Those were not really damaged ... but when everything is open ... just for sure.

more pics as I´ve promised ...

On pic 61.jpg you can see exactly one of worn exhaust tapets, surface lookes really bad.

Pic 64.jpg: starting assembly with crankshaft, of course with measured new main bearings, STD size was fine.

more pics

starting with real assembly.

On the 2,0 V6 Turbo it is not possible to put in first all liners and then install pistons, because rod eyes were to big for bore of liners.
So you have to assembly piston with liner first and then install assembly in block.

more pics, ...

mounting of timing belt, tensioner.

ATTENTION: there are two different types of timing belts, old 164 2,0 V6 Turbo will need timing belts with sharp edge profiles !

GTV 916, 164 2,0 V6 Turbo SUPER and 166 2,0 V6 Turbo will need rounded profile of teeth. (CONTITECH CT819)
141 teeth.

Exact check with dial gauge and check positions of cams, there is no adjustment possible on cams, of course you can mashine pullys, every time there is a way, but normaly position marks of 2,0 V6 Turbo engines are good.

I´ve tryed just for my interest to install a sharp edge timing belt on a GTV 2,0 V6 Turbo, ... yes it will fit, but there is a little space on each tooth when you are looking through and at the end, position marks on cams were not fit 100%.

more pics,...

pic 68_14 you can see new servo pump instead of clima compressor installed.

pic 68_16 for new oil temperature display, I had to make an adapter on the lath.

Clutch is a special one, it´s a Sinter Metal with torsions springs to handle that hopefully coming high output power.

I know that power will come because in my old 164 V6 Turbo I had with same Turbo and Boost of 1,7 bar a power output of 315 Horse Power on dynamo.
