Thanks for the info Barry - great work on that car, it sounds awesome 8) Been busy building my budget race car - a humble $750 Milano now with a 3.0 12v transplant from a 164 QV/S, incl. the Motronic.

Thought I would just give you guy's some feedback now that I have been driving the 3.6 for about a month.

The car is an utter bugger to drive at the legal speed limit of 120km/h on our freeways. I have to barely caress the throttle pedal and she want's to take off. :D Unfortunatly our Metro cops are taking up the art of hiding behing bushes with radar guns to a new level in Gauteng. Get caught over 160km/h and it's hello court and goodbye to more than R10 000 if your lucky.

On Sunday one of those SEAT Cupra R's was running at about 180km/h on the Krugersdorp highway. He was two up I was four up in mine.I allow him to just go past me before flooring it in 5th gear.Closed the one car gap and then started to leave him for dead...Look on his face..Priceless  This car does that to you.

The torque is incredible even with four up.Fuel consumption though,is not this engines strong point... Not Barry's fault it's just costing us more than $1 per litre now for 95 octane. My uncle is over visiting me from California and even he is choking at the cost of our gas,and that's saying something for a guy who spends over $850 a month feeding gas to his 928S4. :D In normal driving once it's warm you can just do the 1 to 3 to 5th gear routine without the slightest strain.

It is so easy to now break traction that a certain amount of caution needs to be excersised in some situations. The other day I turned left onto a fairly steep uphill and decided to just floor it.Broke traction right through to 7000rpms in first :D  Sometimes you just have to guys...

The overwhelming compliment from others though remains the sound this car makes. It's just unf#$%ing unbelievable :D

Am I happy ? You had better believe it. :D Thanks Mr B.

With 3.6, what kind of pistons were used? Custom made forgies or some Porsche or Honda bike pistons?

BTW what happened to your 3.5 12V?

That's nuts Mats. The mere thought of being forced to drive a diesel or some piece of s&%t hybrid,Barry's F250 excluded  ,would drive me nuts. These cars have zero emotion to them.

Had a few laps around Kyalamy in the Alfa GT diesel and all I kept on wondering was why is there no V6 scream ? It just isn't very Alfa for me.

Gotta' agree - had a GT diesel in Switzerland for a couple of weeks last Nov. - ok, but not very Alfa to me.

Any suspension or brake upgrades on the 3.6?

Speaking of GT diesel my clutch needs to be replaced after 25000km. Found out its acommon problem with all these hi torque diesel motors . Under guarantee so no expense to me. As they say the gt diesel is kinda like the Mona Lisa with a moustache.
Fernando, on the way to Zwartkops track yesterday I had the GTA at seven though in fifth on the Krugersdorp freeway. Hope they were no traps. Gave a 350z the fright of his life.

We must have just missed each other Kevin.I also went through to Zwartkops using the Krugersdorp highway. The only trap I came across was in the huge dip after the Total Petro stops.

After that I got the chance to run mine right through to 7000rpms hitting the rev limiter in 5th.Did this on a flat straight and an uphill section. :D Puckered up my butt doing it though at the thought of a radar trap in a new place...

Z,sorry about the delayed response to your questions...

First off the pistons Barry used are forged Arias and as for my 3.5 12V it was swopped with Barry for this pearl of an engine I now have.

Mr B has a heart of gold. 8) The swop helped me to afford this engine. :D

As to a further update for you guys the one thing I now realise is my gearing is a bit on the short side with this motor. It's still the origional 2.5 gearbox and with my 205 x 50 x 15's it brings the gearing in 5th to about 33.5kms per thousand rpms.

For those of you wondering about traction, yes my Goodyear Eagle F1's are taking some strain as this car just loves to break traction, as I have told you guy's earlier. On the plus side it can only help to improve my power oversteer car control which is no bad thing I am sure you will agree ?
