suspect the comment about deleting the rear anti roll bar is due to the shortwheel base meaning it could be comforting to have a bit of understeer.

also, I'm not an engineer, but your mounts look pretty good to me - you are going to tie it all together by filling in the big hole in the middle though...aren't you? :?:

yeah im not entirely sure how i want to tie it in...the top 2 inches actualy has a crossmember up there..ill probably run a stick of 1x1x.065 and triangulate them into the frame rails

hopeing to start putting floor pan skins in tomaro after i sort out the new seat mounts..well not exactly new....im planing to use a modified alfetta seat..found theres a huge section i can cut out of them IF i swap them (driver as passenger passenger as driver) theres a 3 inch skirt that once removed should clear the remaining transaxle issue

Have you had a look at the seats the Lotus 7 replica guys use? some of them are good and narrow, but they tend to rely on the trans tunnel and the side of the car for lateral support.
I've seen gokart seats used in a Caterham....
Looks like a neat project anyway :D

lotus 7 seats eh...hmmmm ill look into that GOOD idea!!!...i dont have much tunnel obviously but the side of the body will definatly support ya LOL..planin 5point belts anyway

ill get a pic tomaro of the alfetta seats loosely placed in the body so you guys can get a better feel for how tight the inside really is

Oh, big duh moment... 105 series GTV seats! these things are freakin narrow inside! I sit with my shoulder against the drivers door and can reach the passengers side door easily.

or early Mazda MX5 seats - a mate of mine ran a pair of these in a Mini Moke with room to spare and that's damn narrow - also pretty comfortable and supportive. He also fitted them in his '67 Mini which is even smaller.

figured some of you might like an update...anyway i added a "spine" to the car to take out a lil more flex..ive killed about 90% of the flex and havnt caged it yet  also started building new floor pans from scratch ...anyway i also started on the "wide body" conversion to fit the milano suspension better

anyway..im quite happy with the widebody'ed look..i was a bit worried about it..it came out looking VERY leadsled mixed with modern race widebody...i never thought the 2 styles could be mixed with success

Are you welding that frame/cage to the toilet roll that Alfa calls a rear shock mount without any additional bracing?
I'd be worried that those super stiff pipes will just violate the hell out of that 0.8mm sheet metal structure...

actually the small cage work thats back there right now is all .065 1.5inch tube as i wanted to just brace up the towers and tie the rear section to the body...those tubes are only a little bit thicker than the stock sheetmetal but there placing allows the chassis to be ALOT stiffer.......as a bonus the towers should be able to handle coilovers now  ...basically the tubes you see in the rear are a elaborate tower brace more or less

when i get to the cage it will tie DIRECTLY to the old frame rails and some of my new ones

:?

As much as I love seeing quality custom stuff that is actually done by the owner........... I'm still thinking NO!

Looks like a waste of what appeared to be a decent Alfa

To each their own I suppose.

:wall: Nice work tho.

yes it was a damn neer perfect milano platinum(2 dime size rust spots on an other wise PERFECT rust free body and 2 splits in the front seats it was in desperate need of a tuneup as well as leaking oil badly from the presure sender)...HOWEVER it sat for sale for 1500$ for 4 months 1000$ for 2 months and then another 3-4 months at 500$....no one wanted it PERIOD..i saved it from being impounded and likely crushed....i feel somewhat bad about cutting up a platinum but the fact that no one wanted puts that feeling to rest..along with knowing how much sheer fun its going to be

started building the drivers side widening..also built most of the transaxle floor cover....first off is a shot of a "stock" door next to the new 4 inch door
