Good day from Down under ,

I am new to this forum.
A lot of great reading and advise on this forum.

I am converting my Alfetta GTV4 to a 3.2 V6.
Can you confirm if the standard Alfetta gtv6 engine mounts line up.

No, they don't. V6 mounts are more to the front of the chassis, same height. Fortunately, 4 and 6cyl mounts share one common mounting bolt. What you can therefore do is to remove base from a scrap car by drilling the spot-welds, cut in half and weld to chassis as shown in pics. To properly align, use a V6 mount and bolt in place as shown. If you are going to install custom long headers, its imperative that you saw-off the rear now-unused portion of the 4cyl mount and close the open space left to the rear with a suitable plate welded in place -not shown in these pics but done later with difficulty when the long headers went in.
If you don't have a donor car to hack, you can weld a suitably bent 3mm thick and ~30mm wide strip in front of the old mount. On this strip you will have to weld a bolt on one side of the car and a nut on the other side. This has also worked well for us here. I hope it is all clear...

You're supposed to have the mounts ready BEFORE the motor goes in!

I have just remove the 4 cylinder and I am checking the location of the v6 mounts as per your instructions.

For final alignment, you'll have to check that the bellhousing rear mount can also be properly positioned without forcing it.

I have just had some plates welded to my car this weekend and dropped the engine in yesterday

Would it be similiar if converting an Alfa 75 2.0 Twin Spark to 12v 3.0 V6? That is, welding additional plates?

What do you guys think of this
I posted it on alfa bb and on here a while back and I find it strange that even though it is a 2.0l it has lots in common with the gtv6



I have had six gtv6 over the last 25 years and although im not a mechanic worked on all them including engine swaps prop re builds gearbox changes etc etc and for major jobs used wyn lear from keighley
Unfortunately I had my 1984 mint gtv6 series 3 written off in 2011 due to a front nearside shunt
I got paid out for the car and bought a 916 phase 3 3.2 which I run to this day
I got to keep the gtv6
To cut a long story short I acquired a very solid and well presented 2.0l alfetta gtv with no engine or gearbox in but the engine bay floor wings doors etc are in really good condition I have removed the gearbox prop de dion tube etc from the gtv6 and the engine is ready to be lifted out
I have repainted the de dion tube and fitted it to the 2.0 The front has already had the got the gtv6 hubs with uprated drilled and grooved discs
I have attached photos of the gtv6 (A723 jlm before the bump) and the 2.0 l

the strangest thing about the 2.0l chassis I have though is it has the battery in the same place as the gtv6 in a box under the boot floor and the tank is behind the rear seats with a return for the fuel line which is blocked of as the 2.0l I presume didn't have the return
Ive checked the chassis number with alfa and its listed as 2.0l gtv manufactured and imported to the belguim market

I agree but it has 2.0 front mountings
no signs of a cut and shut either (an English term for a written off car with bits from different cars)

Neatly welding in engine mounts and chassis number is not easy. But makes more sense to me as neatly welding in a complete rear trunk floor...

Never seen or heard of a 2.0 with v6 tank and battery placement from the factory. But hey,they 're italians sorry anything is possible i guess.
