I have Ron Simons rod ends and they have dirt all over them already. I'm worried about accelerated wear. Should I have any kind of grease on them to keep them tolerance free?
Thanks
Grant ,Thats the price you pay for having race stuff on a road car..Keep them clean, what ive done in the past is fit a section of bicycle tube over the assy and then tie down the ends..Its not always practical to do so however...De dion can be made pretty foll proof by smearing a thick layer of realy thick wheel bearing grease all over..The grease catches all the dust and grit, keeping it from the actual bearing..
French cars are shit and shit expensive to service and bloody awful and unreliable and expensive and friends don't let friends drive french cars and you wait years for parts.
You must keep the rod ends well greased or they will be shot very quickly.
I bought some nice seals that are pretty much universal and are available in several different sizes, it's pretty much a washer vulcanized to a rubber "cup" that sits on the outer rim of the joint. Keeps the grease/lube in and dirt out!
Got mine from Demon Tweeks.

What you say, sir, makes a lot of sense, but what do you think about this?
"There are a couple benefits to using a teflon injected liner in that they are self lubricating which means you don’t need to grease or maintain them (adding grease or a rubber boot will cause water or dirt particles to stay or get trapped in the rod end and wear out the liner quicker). Second is that the liner acts as a separator between the race and housing of the bearing."

This is what I'm talking about.

Seems unlikely to trap moisture if you keep it filled with grease.
