Dynomat (correction)
Hello mate.
I dynomated the entire interior and under the hood of my Alfa. It weighs next to nothing, just a rubbrizd compound and a thin veneer of batting which also deflects heat. It has a nice self adhesive on it and is very easy to work with.
I highly recommend it to improve insulation, reduce rattles, and improve stereo quality. However, it will muffle the sound of your GTV-6 purring. If you do go with it, double down on the drive shaft hump as it will elminate to a degree the heat which radiates up near the shifter.
Overpriced product, but still worthwhile.
Surprised regarding the dash situation. I was able to get mine redone in Alcantara, stiched and glued. They also poo-pooed about the difficulty but did it anyway and I was pleased with the results. Perhaps you can give it another go with your trimmer.
Best wishes,
Richard

My goodness, well after 17 pages there's not much to say, except i know here in Australia, a concours condition gtv6 will net you $20,000.
My car is valued at $13,000, and would need alot more work, or money thrown at it to get to concours, of course
What i want to do is modify what i have now, for i know everything that has been done to car, then i want to build another gtv6 to concours condition, and leave it original.
Goodluck with everything and hope you get the best out of your alfa!
Regards,
Garth

Hi Rhodes1,
Can you post some pictures of your dash to give me some more ideas on this.
Hi GarthW,
I really like your Alfa too. Silver with those wheels of yours' looks terrific. Of course, I am sure you know my car would not pass concours since it is not original. Good to know you can get 20K. I thought the prices were in the 10K range.

Its amazing how quickly the prices of cars go up.
I remenber not long ago, if you wanted a gtv6 it would cost you from $15,000 and up, a good one for $17,000. Not too long after that, i picked up mine for $5k and it was in amazing condition.
Like bloody yo-yo's lol
I must say after all these years its amazing how good our cars still look. Alot of my friends have jap cars, but the girls and alot of ppl in general always have something nice to say.
One girl, who is drop dead gorgeous by the way said to me 2 weeks ago, "I just love your little retro car!"
That was one of the funniest comments, but well appreciated.
If her BF wasnt standing right there, i would have taken her for a ride lol.

Here is a snap I took last fall. The dash is all alcantera, dark burgundy. The flash washes out the colour. At this time I still had the original seats in.

82 GTV6 Restore
Hello Everyone,
Back from the work convention and had a chance to get back on track with my project. So close and yet so far. My plan now is to finish the interior, windows installed, and Alfa registered. I will need to deal with the tweaking of the idle, clutch, brakes, starter, flanges for exhaust system, and a possible vibration with the driveshaft. All things considered this is a short tweaking list for such a restoration and now I hope to have the car running for the Montery Historic racing.
I hope to met with my associates this Sat and inventory the parts to see what is missing and pull the dash out. Joe has agreed to restore the dash with leather which was the last issue to resolve.
All the major parts except for the dash are done. This took longer than expected since they made all new backings for the door panels rather than cover over the old ones. I guess the old ones were too worn out and they do look better. We are just fitting the parts now and will permantly install once we determine I have all the parts. Here are some pictures:

82 GTV6 Restore
We are able to take out the dash today. It was straight forward just like the GTV6 thread explained to us. We took out the Instruments which were held in by 4 screws and unhooked the electrical wiring. We marked the wires to make sure that we did not Mix them up. Now that they are out of the Alfa I will need to bring the Speedo and Tach to a shop to fix the needles. They melted down and when my last mechanic tried to fix them he broke them off so they are short. The gauges work but we don't like the short needles. Does anyone know of a instument shop that can do this for us.
Also, I need to make sure that the tach is hooked up correctly with the new gotech wiring and change the speedo relay to the Milano now that I have Andrew's new Milano transaxle. Here are some pictures:

The hardest part of taking out the dash was removing the 2 bolts that were behind the top vents and removing the choke cable. We were able to take out the bottom vent tubes and then pull the top caps inside the dash to remove them. Then we had access to the 2 bolts. To remove the choke cable we removed the bolt holding the cable in place. Once this once done we were able to get the handle to pull out far enough to unscrew the 4 phillip head screws and then the whole unit came out easily. The dash was cracked alot more that we thought. I wish we could get a new one but we could not source one so restoring is the only option. Here are some pictures of the dash getting ready to be restored.

We now have full access to the heater box. We are now thinking that we do not want to restore the heater box. It looks complicated to remove and now that I think about it I do remember that this leaked one time before and we had it restored once already. Has anyone removed their heater box in their Alfa GTV6 before?
Here are some pictures of the Alfa Interior without the dash in along with the heater box.

We stopped here today since our goal was to get the dash out and restored. I saw one fuse and we don't know what it is for. Does anyone know what this fuse if for?
