AutoItalia has an article right now on Ron's Ex- Group A GTV6 and a little bit on his driving school. It said that Ron stated the V6 75's go through brake pads like twice a week, and the TS brake pads will last 3 months.

Ron also said the TS will put up a faster lap time than the V6 75. Apparently they are both stock, with just a cage and Ron's suspension kit.

Anyone else agree or disagree with this? I thought the V6 cars would only be a couple hundred pounds heaveir?

How much does a TS wiegh when stock anyhow?
BMW's are the ultimate driving machine!

I'm kidding -- please don't ban me.

Only a few hundred pounds heavier, that is true, but where are those extra pounds located?

TS came with lightweight bumpers. The V6, mostly, came with USA bumpers. Gearing for Jetronic V6s are lame (3.54 diff?). Rev limiter is low, well I guess with stock cams, not much use for high rev limit. But the stock 3.0 V6 is not a good track car. Maybe an early 2.5 V6 (ones with the lightweight bumper) will be better than a 3.0 V6.

Stock TwinsPark weighs 1120 kilograms. 3.0 Weighs (according to the factory) 13xx. It would be over 1400 though with person and fuel etc...
I weighed my GTV6 with aircon system removed and I weigh 90kg and came out as 1310 kilograms.

I have driven both the prepped V6 and the prepped TS and a std TS (as seen in the video). The V6 had the full NS chassis but still understeered as a pig and was generally not feeling as good as the TS cars.
More power = more braking and in a heavy car too. Since you will be going faster on the straights and as most of the drivers in the cars are not familliar with the ring there will be a lot of "confidence braking" going on and that will accelerate wear.

Did you notice Ron has moved his business? Crawling distance to the Pistenklause and the Tiergarten hotel! :)

edit: a little confusing, too many "TS".

is the GTv6 a late or early car?. you can delete a fair bit of weight very quickly on these cars. mines an 83, and weights just over 1150. I have replaced all splash guards with fibreglass, light weight battery, deleted original spare wheel, and jack. I have the lightweight magnesium campagnolos, (I was amazed how much heavier the non mag wheels are, almost 5k heavier each.). That little lot deletes about 40kg, though\i think the early GTV6 is a little lighter than the late anyway.
