Which EMS are you planning to run? I see coil on plugs.
Which line is it that connects to the right head, above the oil filter?
With that kind of power you really need the LSD, or you might as well take corners in one gear higher...
My coolant catch tank is high-tech: a Gatorade bottle

Hey, do you have one of Ron's 30mm bars on the front yet?
Also, we should probably consider bumping you up to 125s on the front and maybe 60 or 65s at the rear - or 70s - but that will be a tad much - me thinks...)
...to Alfa, or not to Alfa? That is the question...
The line back to the right head is the oil overflow(standard on 166). This car has had the RS kit on it whole year including the 30mm front anti roll. 115kg with torsion bars front and 50kg rear. I have already ripped the bodywork on the front anti roll mounts from that rough stretch of road to Swartkopps, but all welded in with a plate now. It was just a matter of time as there is no support on the inner mounting bolt. I am going to leave the suspension as is, as I still like to drive the car to the track and hopefully back which I have done this whole season. Yeah I know its a comprimise but its working for me.
Not sure which Gotech it is but I know its the latest one. As long as it works dont really mind what moedl it is.
I have another LS in my Dads car(3.7) which I want to pull out tomorrow night just incase I dont get mine ready.
Believe it or not. Got a Gotech pro x installed and mapped in a day. I had already a spare 166 harness which made life very easy reagarding coils and injector looms. The boys at gotech loaded a standard 3.0 24v map then we ran it on the dyno to map properly as I have the Glenwood GTA2 cams in on the inlets. This took another hour.
Ran qualifying at todays race only two seconds faster than my 2.5 12v as I battled with the extra 70kw to keep the car on the track as my braking points were far out(over shooting corners). Anyway by the end of heat two I was seven seconds faster and still making a lot of errors.
Must say the car is extremely smooth low down and then that cams kicks in at four thou making an awsome exhaust note right up to seven thou( not to mention it goes like hell!). I will try record this sound with a clip. I think I have just the right power at this stage and need to work on driving skills . Will post pics later this week.
Forgot to mention I still have no LS in the car which makes it cery tricky to drive on this circuit with its double hairpin. Cant wait to put that in(LS still in pops 3.7 with the faulty e6x ecu) as there is the Kyalami 9 hr revival race this weekend. Only have to drive for two hours though. I still have not put the big brake upgrade in either and was very surprised the old old ones held out with no fade for twenty laps.
I put the red striping back on for origionality to make it 100% GTV3.0L except the motor has an extra 12v. I did not tell this to the poor chap, well actualy very wealthy chap in his D type Jag. Pretty much even down the 1km straight with him and then I pull a huge gap through the twisty bits. As there was a small entry of the other Historic cars ,they mixed in with us which was great so we got to go up against heavily modified 911 rs's as well.
Grant, those rims were in the boot(trunk) of the 164 as spare. I prefer the compomotives as they were an optional rim on the GTV3.0L here and makes it look more origional. Mostly all came with the mesh type inners. Must admit these compomotives are not the strongets after 20yrs as I have one from the weekend with a major split in it where the bolts go through. I am even reluctant to weld this one up. It would be interesting to find out if these compomotive rims were designed to handle racing slicks. I will put some more pics of the Giulietta's up, need a week to get my memory stick back.
Looking for help again ! I got a set of 32mm torsion bars but there are no markings on the ends( s or d) to show which are left or right. What happens if they go in the incorrect way. No colour markings on them either(blue or yellow).
I haven't played with torsion bars in a while now (and I'm glad I don't have to, especially big ones). But aren't the splines different from the front and back? I thought it will only go in one way.
It does make a difference if they've been installed and on a car for some time. If the have not been installed it doesnt make any difference.
The old Mopars had an even / odd part number thing where the odd part number would go on the right (I think) and the even would go on the left side. I understand you can break a torsion bar if you reverse the sides (turn the bar the opposite direction from how it was originally installed).
Of course the Alfa may be different, but I doubt it.
Z, I know which is front and back but the problem is there is no marking for left and right.
Scott, These come off another race car which was used for atleast ten years so they have been loaded in one direction. But if one is loaded in one direction then the other bar is loaded in the other direction. I heard you cant swap them as the molecular structure aligns itself in one direction. Cant see this as for every reaction there is an opposite and equal reaction except if the car is standing(maybe thats where the alignment occurs). Well I sure as hell dont know !
Kevin,
any load in the wrong direction is a bad thing, but just assembling the the bars to the car and putting it on the ground probably won't show any faults.....its when you REALLY load it up on the track that things can break.
How good a deal did you get on these bars? How much damage would be done if one broke? Do you have that to spend?
or
Flip a coin
The ONLY reason I say what I do is because the Mopar manuals and enthusiast crowd (this before the internet) made a big deal about switching lefts and rights. I heard about broken torsion bars, never saw one myself.
Barry, mats, or JK may likely know more (more like probably). I'd just hate to see that car get torn up is all.
