Ha ha ! Good one John. Mate, forget scared. Try scared shitless. I figured if I wanna go water skying, I'd rather hang onto a rope behind a Mercury outboard...

MD, the sad thing is that most of us who live in the southern hemisphere probably only have one race out of twelve in the wet and when that does happen we dont even go out. This stands to reason why the best wet weather drivers come from northen hemisphere as a rainy day is another glorias track day so they are forced to learn to drive in wet conditions.
I think i will just enjoy my track days in the sun at this stage..

MD - I'm happy to take your car out for any wet runs that you are otherwise going to forfeit - I LOVE driving in the rain

Ah finally a week end of sprints and racing with a sound result. Good relialabilty generally with a minor welding repair on Saturday and no mechanical issues at all all Sunday. The Brick is starting to take shape now and displaying is future potential.

Here's some results of the events. Look for car number #2. I didn't drive it and just played stand-by mechanics but it was a great buzz to see it go so well.

Some other updates. Even though I put oil cooler and thermostatically contolled valve(opens at 80deg) my engine temps are still to high on lap 10. Not sure where the best place is to put cooler to keep flow through radiator. My oil pressure still good at 3.5 under very hot temps. New aluminium radiator to replace 20 year old one. pics follow

I saw Merril Gordons post but can only comment on what I have. Bottom line I have no real change oil pressure but then my sump does hold 8.5 litres.(two more than standard). My pressure is still in safe region. Notice small 164 filter. Between my three 24v motors they all run different filtrers due to the threads(studs) I put in block. Pics to follow of radiator

Are you painting your rads? Sounds like a good way to insulate them.. 8)

I think it's time for you to put ducting behind your radiator to tap into the low pressure zone at the front of your hood (i.e. a hole through the hood)

Mats, was just looking at ways to close off sides and around fan. I have closed off the hole on the hood to help maintain the low pressure behind radiator (fan side). I got radiator already painted is that good or bad.
There are always atleast five things happening with this car at at any given time. Last race I blew the dip stick right out with a whole lot of oil. Luckily I got off racing line as fast as possible to avoid a major fine our stewards impose. With my new plenum my one way valve stuck on the oil breather . This combined with over filling as I was not sure how much the oil cooler held was the cause. Any one who is running these sumps stick to eight litres even though dip stick shows min.

The fan does nothing above walking speed so forcing all the air through the fan is maybe not the first move in my mind.
If you close the hole in the hood you will increase the pressure behind the radiator and probably make the flow trough the rad worse. Ducting behind the radiator to the hood is a good way to make sure you get a nice pressure diff over the radiator which will increase flow.
Paint will act like an insulator, that is never good on a radiator.

MD, when those tyres get hot do they also pick up 'marbles' if you go off the racing line as our Bridgestone semi slicks(road legal) do. Put it another way is it a semi slick or a few levels below that ? looks like good tar rally tyre.
