Re: Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)
Here are some pictures off rear suspension
I do not have any rear swaybar (like the SZ and RZ). For me this works fine.
Rear chassi setup:
Total toein 4 mm
Camber 2,5 degree

Total 4 mm = 2 mm on each side = 0,3 degree (measured on 17'' wheel)
I like to have a car that turns in easy before Apex.
My GAZ coilovers are not custom built.
They works but I will probably buy better shocks next time.
Ohlins is s Swedish brand that makes excellent shocks. But they are expensive.
Have anyone tested Ohlins shocks on a Alfa 116 car
Spring rate:
170 N/mm front
105 N/mm rear

Nice, lowered rear roll center.
Also do all Swedes bend their DeDion's in the middle?

Re: Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)
At some point in December last year I was pretty close to buying a set for front. AFAIR no. 170/100/B12 coilovers were closest dimesions to 116 chassis. Even with the spring they should clear the stock UCA. Too bad few days later all major currencies got like 30% more expensive hereTS_turbo wrote:4mm toe in what about your GAZ coilovers ? are they custom and what springrates
Niclas where the hell have you been all this time? We need more more stuff like this. Again excellent car!

Nicolas,
I have read through all the posts in this topic set but have not found a value for your front sway bar. I have noted that you dont use a rear one. I dont either.
What is the size of your front sway bar please and is it a hollow one or solid ?
Thank you.
MD

Hi MD !
Front sway bar is 30 mm and a hollow one.
Its working quite good and is also light.
I bought it from a Swedish guy who make these for 1000 Sek approx 125 USD
Look at http://www.faster.se.
He also have a Alfa 75 V6 Racecar.

Re: Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)
Hi Niclas,
Great car and lots of ingenious fabrication to improve the chassis!
One thing bothers me enormously when I look at the front suspension photo's - the drop link for the steering arm connection. I appreciate it's there for a reason and gets the steering arms working more horizontally, but even though it's probably welded up the "double right angle" nature of the drop link looks MASSIVELY prone to flexing and subsequent failure. How does it not flex??
To be honest that single item scares me, although all the rest of the work looks just excellent!

Re: Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)
The rear sway bar is a confusing issue for me as you say you dont have one. Niclas have you tested with one. Why i ask is Ron from RSR says very important to have one on the v6 but deffinately not on the 2.0l. Two chaps here who run highly modified front mount tt gtv's dont run rear sway bar either. Just asking !!
Re: Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)
Please notice that Niclas has moved the rear springs. This changes the MR and thus the situation is far from standard. What might be good for a stock car doesn't apply anymore.

Steering arm and knuckle are conected with a M14 (14 mm) bolt. Around this bolt I have a steel sleeve with OD 18 mm. I secured the bolt with an extra looking nut. Sofar there have been no flex in this joint.
But I do understand your concerns. But if you dont try you will not know if it works..

Yes I have tested with and wtithout rear sway bar.
For me it works better without. (with the rear chassi setup that I have)
I think Rons cars have rear springs and dampers in original position. If you have this, I think you need an rear swaybar on V6.
If you move springs outwards you can try to take sway bar away.

Re: Niclas Rosengren (Sweden)
I have been busy for a while so thats way I have not updated this page.
I have been to Mantorp (a track in Sweden) and done some testing with my racecar. Among others things I tested my rain tires in wet conditions. Engine management system and other stuff.
I have also started to design a floor mounted pedalbox.
And I got some pieces back from my machinary shop for my new drivsshaft. This will be CV-joints on both ends and a ordinary cross in middle. No hardys at all.
My SZ have also been out on the track. I drove this car on Anderstorp 25 of May (Old Formula One track in Sweden. N Lauda won the latest F1 hear back in 1978 with the Alfa/Brabham fan car)
