Re: Alfetta clutch on 75 TS box
Hi Mike,
The twin plate and single plate clutches are interchangable on GTV6's, from memory just the slave cylinder push rod may be a different length.
A few years ago I had a similar problem with faces for the twin plate clutch. I was told they were available overseas but because they contained ASBESTOS they could not be imported. The first place I sent them to came back with the correct diameter plates fitted but they had no idea of the plate thickness and how to set up an Alfa clutch. They then skimmed the faces to the correct thickness but the rivet heads were showing.
Direct Clutches at Albion came to the rescue by countersinking the rivets and setting up the clutch to specs. They may be able to help with the single plate sizes.
The twin plate has been in my 3.0L (now swapped for a 75 transaxle & single plate clutch) and is now in my 2.5L GTV6 and still going strong. The single plate clutch in the 2.5L started slipping after 100K but the faces are no where near worn out and no oil, etc on the faces ????
David

Re: Alfetta clutch on 75 TS box
Thanks David,
In a round about way I am aware of most of these issues. Obtaining the clutch facings is becoming a real problem and so I am going to try to make a light flywheel with an appropriate single plate set up. One that I can get spare parts for in the future. Essentially it will replicate the similar needs of a 3 litre 75 in terms of power and mass to move. I have never seen a clutch setup on a 3 litre 75.
The thing is, it should possibly be beefier than the 75 TS as the car is heavier and has considerably more torque so my gut feeling is that a standard TS single plate clutch would not be adequate.
BTW I too have had some work done by Direct Clutches at Albion.Without going into details, the outcome was less than satisfactory and it all relates to the availability of the EXACT facings matrials required which has dried up.

Yes the 75 V6 3.0 is beefier than TS , the 1.8t and 3.0 V6 both use the same clutch... TS is smaller/thinner...

Do you have the specifications of the 3l V6 clutch by any chance? Does anyone?

Re: Alfetta clutch on 75 TS box
complete assembly. The Tb gearbox i used needed a new clutch and the Tb/v6 item was on backorder and i neede to drive the car. So i used a very good TS clutch assembly. Never changed it to the Tb item because it lasted very good...
