Take a regular two, armed puller.
Remove its arms and put the crossbar inside the hub.
Works every time.
Make it tight, then put tension on it, and then tap it with a hammer on the back. *pop*

Re: Steering Column
Grega , go with mats advice on crimping. I have also struggled getting steering wheels of and even seen my steering pullers bend BUT the only thing that gets its off (for me) was serious tapping(turned into hiiting) with a hammer to induce serious shock waves while its under tension of the puller. It will come off. Dont be afraid to hit hard. No other way.
Re: Steering Column
If you use anti seize paste on the splines on reassembly, you will never have these dramas again.

Mats,
I did try a puller but i had a slighty different set up. Your steering wheel hub look different. is it from a momo?

Re: Steering Column
Grega, the puller i made uses threaded bar (two of ) that fits into standard steering wheel. Also spray some anti seize or whatever you get there and leave it overnight.

It's a Nardi adapter for a 155...grega wrote:Mats,

Took what I had handy, otherwise I had to unbolt a steering wheel. It's the principle I wanted to show. I have used it many times on 75/GTV steering wheels and Momo/etc adapters.

Re: Steering Column
Hey guys,
Thanks for all the help on this matter. I wish i could say that i finally got my steering wheel off, but no luck yet.
Here'a a picutre of the puller i used. This should of worked. it builds up good pressure. but instead of pulling the steering wheel off it bends it where the metal tabs rest.
I also tried a air hammer. using it on the center of the shaft; with no luck.

Re: Steering Column
Get A 3 arm hub puller. take the horn cover off and put some padding around the steering wheel sections (all 3) and clamp onto the steering wheel and turn the shaft with a socket wrench, it will come off. Make sure the puller is long enough to reach the bolt so the 3 arms of the puller can be fitted.
