Monday night, wanted to get a slush and some chili chese tots with my lady at Sonic and bang! I was driving and the chick in front of me pulls to the right and then sweeps around to make a U-turn (no signal) so she crashes into the right quarter and nose of my car. we stop and she yells "$hit get the F-ing beer cans out of the car!" i ask if she was ok and we pull to the side. her three drunk friends in the back seat start kicking the miller light cans down the street. i go run and pick them up so i can show them to the cops when they get there. "those arent ours!!!" ...because often times one finds cold beer cans in the street! the three drunk girls run away and about an hour passes untill the cop gets there. meanwhile the girl is eating a whole lot of bread and drinking a ton of water thinking that it will help her with the brethalizer. cop gets there... i tell him my story, she tells him hers... because i was behind her, she had the right of way, ITS MY FAULT! so then i tell him that they were all drinking when i hit them and 3 of the five girls ran off because they were wasted ( they were underage as was the driver). i asked him if it is still my fault even if she had been drinking ? "yes... she doesnt seem to be drunk." ME- "dont you have a breathalizer?" COP- "Oh i forgot it, i dont have it on me." Me- "well what about all these beer cans that i have that they threw out on the street?" Cop- "its your word against theirs who is to say that u didnt just pick those up on the steet and they could have been anyones. i didnt see any beer cans in their car when i got here." he told me that he was helping me out by not giving me a wreckless driving ticket, and he gave me on for driving too close to her car. now Dadies audi has a dent and my gtv6 is probably totaled. the grill is busted, the headlight, then nose, the ex-mint spoiler, and the side quarter panel. all of that equals way too much money to fix. It blows my mind that he didnt even care that they were drinking and driving under age! i tried to call my lawyer and father who is a lawyer, but it was late at night and had no luck. i cant help but feel that this isnt right and i really got screwed!
ill post some pics of my baby tomarrow.... looks like it might be byebye to alfas for a while

Hey VinnyM,
Mate, I am just a bush lawyer but it seems to me that you should pursue a few issues here for adequate compensation.
If the situation was as you claimed it was, then here's some pointers:-
1 My understanding is that your lady friend was in the car with you at the time. She is your material witness of the events. You need to make use of this situation.
2 The police officer was negligent in his/her duties and should be pursued through the authorities. The police officer should have radioed for a breathaliser kit to be brought to the site or he should have taken the suspects to the station for analysing to remove any doubt. He did neither and is therefore negligent.
2 A driver under the influence of alcohol or other drugs is not entitiled to be on the road in the first place and is therefore responsible for any consequence-not you.
If your dad is a lawyer, he should be able to assist you with these basics surely?
I know during the heat of the moment it is hard to think clearly but after you have had a chance to think it through, I hope you get justice in the end.

Hi Vinny,
That just stinks. It irks me no end to hear these kind of stories about drunk shmucks on the orad, but hell if you were caught speeding...
My beloved GTV6 has just been "repaired" by my insureres choice of garage after being rear ended by a bus in bumper to bumper traffic.I share your pain Vinny having lost two GTV6's before.
You must have some recourse against this girl and the cops.My uncle lives in California and he was just telling me about a young friend of my cousin who was killed on prom night by a young drunk as a lord driver who sustained zero injuries!
Even in South Africa they tend to be more lenient towrds drunkards than speedsters.
Good luck
