Hey Kev,Good to see Steve Schneid`s car is still alive and well!!!
This was the second ever single turbo I did after my own.As you guys can see this was pre-programmable efi or any such luxuries..She was good though-I remember seeing 240 wheel hp @ .7bar boost(6000ft elevation)
Kev,you got pics of the turbo side??

Last pic. Im sure a lot of people are thinking , why go multi valve when for half the amount of work you can go single turbo or supercharge.

Here's a single 24v turbo manifold made for a 164S , I think it will be tauching the steering rack on the right side of a 116 though ,I may change it a little and give it a go just out of curiosity.....
In the end of the day what do you guys think about going SingleT on the V6?

Isn't that what Alfa already did on the 2.0 V6 Turbo (first on the 164)? Of course not with the astronomical HP-figures you guys are turning out.

yes , they did , but that was in attempt to keep the 2.0 capacity in order to leave those 164 and later GTV models on the lower fees group like they did with many other cars(M bi-turbo , Fiat Coupe,LanciaK),it seems to be that the 4| turbochaged were yeilding more power and on late 97 they stopped manifacturing those and started putting 24v 3.0s on the GTVs ...
my question relates to the debate regarding what's better -a TT or single turbo , with the problamtic isssue of the V6 manifold pipings.

Chen,

That manifold look like it's for a 24V 164, not a 164S (look at the flanges for the ports, definitely a DOHC port). Unless by 164S you mean a 164QV 24V?

As far as 2X turbo or not, I think single turbo is much easier, but performance....well can't be as good as 2 turbos. If you get 240 bhp from 1 turbo, maybe you can get 270 from 2 small turbos with less lag.

I still would like a rotrex supercharger though...hmmm.....

Z,
Sorry for the confusion , here the 164 24v is called a 164 SUPER, I thought 164S is the same thing...., anyway it was working fine on a 1994 164 24v with an old school T3\4 hybrid , will fit a 24v longi' transplanted with a slight change on the connection flange(have it directed more to the front of the engine bay so it wouldn't tauch the steering rack and engine mount.

most of us with the TT don't use it's real benefits and fit loversized setups, I'm quite sure mine would run much better with smaller turbos today.
imagine yourself a 3.8 with 2 small BB turbos....

Totally agree. For a street car, supercharger is the sweetest option. May not develop the insane power of turbo but sure is usable power when it comes on song.

I like that setup for a 24v. single turbo. Makes it easier and since you would run one turbo, a ball bearing option would be prefered. To tell you the truth i have never driven a twin turbo vehicle. I do have a single turbo v6. Not an alfa but when you chose the right turbo. You can hit 23lbs at 1800 rpms. I am in the process of rebulding my gtv6 and when it hits the streets it will certainly have to have a turbo or greg's supercharger. Either one can be made to perform good on the street. Tuning is what takes the time. Guiletta24v: is that manifold with the crossover for sale?
