Yes, I'm using it on all my cars! 10w60! Oil consumption is really low compared to other 10w's....

I think Catrol RS 10w60 is also a good oil an I used it before i've changed to Selenia. Reason: Selenia is cheaper than catrol.

Me too, best oil I ever tried.
Makes the engine smooth and silent at idle and consumption is slim to nothing.

If your engine doesn't need the very thick 60 grade oil, you gain some power as well as reduce fuel consumption by going to a thinner oil. What viscosity is appropriate is very much engine depending.

right!! agree about useing exotic oils in stock motors-> no need ... but 20-60 le man oil was for 318IS turbo 1.2 bar running with no oil cooler in that case diference versus normal grade oils was BIG, price was 25 eu liter...

Exactly, you will also break down a thick oil if you use it in an engine design for thinner oil, I have no english word for it but the oil is destroyed by the larger movement per thickness in a tighter bearing clearence.

Does that make sense? My technical english isn't up to date in the oil department.

This is my experience too.

Old Nord engines tend to consume lots (and I mean LOTS) of oil unless at least 50 grade is used.

My race engine seems to need about 50 grade as well not to drop the pressure too much as the oil runs hot (120-140 deg).

Many TS engines can manage with 30-40 grade without any problems.

Would be nice to find something more scientific about the subject. Right now its mostly trial and error.

From what I've read its seems that if your in a colder climate you should use a thiner viscosity oil and the thicker one for warmer temperatures. I've used Ams 20/50 in all of my engines including bikes for a number of years now with excellent results. Also you can extend the drain interval with this brand. In the trucks we get a sample tested every 10,000 k to see if its still protecting.
These people have been producing synthetic oils for 33 years and know what they are doing. Will post some tests results for a comparo betwwen Ams and Mobil 1. Interesting stuff. Tim.

Tim I would be interested in your test comparison against Mobil 1.My uncle has just bought himself a Porsche 928 S4 and it's sump capacity makes our GTV6's seem rather small AND he uses Mobil 1 as per Porsche themselves.

Talking cost,I had to give up using Castrol RS as the price,per 5 litres,varied between R414 to R620! Thats well over $63 converted.

My 3.5 uses oil as have both my 3.0 and 2.5.My neighbours must think I really love looking at my engine because I check my oil level every third day!

I am running Castrol Futron 20W60 as it's a fraction of the price of RS.

p.s Barry the GTX and Futron at my Midas dealer are nearly the same price i.e R86 for 5 litres.

I used to use Mobil 1 15W50 in my 2.5. Not using that engine anymore though.
