My two cents worth Baz.
Transaxle ownership is a relatively small number even taking the global tally. The original site and this one over time has been very successful in relaying information between interested parties to the point that its very success is what is perhaps slowing down some interest.
In my own case, while I was in the developement stage of my car, I was very hungry for ideas and constantly sought advice all over the place including these sites. Now that my project is well and truely over, the intensity and need for information is less so and consequently I visit the site less.
I think the same general principle may apply to many others as well which could be the effect that you are referring to.
I am now developing a strong interest in Alfa racing but this topic in real terms can only generate a small contribution as by the very nature of racing being competitive> You hardly want to share your latest potent modification with the world and loose your edge.
Perhaps to stimulate some interaction, we should collectively design a transaxle where every member could contribute an idea of what would make the ultimate Alfa transaxle car? Maybe we could also have some laughs along the design route?
On balance, I must say I still enjoy browsing the site.
What do you say lads?

Hi Barry ! I have to agree with you.I noticed that when the site transitioned from gtv6.org - alfagtv6.com we lost a lot of participants.Obviously most of the real hard-core sickies found their way here but I think a large number of people simply figured this resource was gone.If they weren't regularly visiting alfabb.com at the time I can understand how this site would be missed.Guess we all have to make a point of promoting its existance as much as possible ! The quick solution would probably be to post pictures of naked Italian women
but that would probably draw some fire from some so I guess we'll have to settle for stripped down engines and transaxles !
What I'm going to do is add the following footer to every post I make on other boards just to encourage some visitors.
If GTV6's and Milano/75's are of interest to you don't forget to visit http://www.alfagtv6.com/ - the best resource on the WWW.

Since I discovered the site, I see it as an information source and a meeting place of people who are doing a same sort of thing (fidling on a trackday transaxle or race car).
Even met some in person

A bunch of nice/wacky/humouristc guys who are willing to share their knowledge for the common purpose in a non commercial way.
The true cuore sportivo!
A shame that it sloowly loosing its beat...............
I like the idea, but not practically doable, remember last year the 24h N'ring transaxle idea of Micke... But man would that be fun to do with the wright group of guyscollectively design a transaxle

Yes,I agree with MD`s point here, but I felt it was a general good guys natter type of forum as well as the more technical close and shut type of forum..something got lost along the way and I dont think it was the transistion from .org to .com that did it...Murray,good idea,I will also follow your lead in promoting the forum...checked out bb and its buzzing-have not been there for ages so I can see an increase in traffic just like we used to have here...
Mike, give us some stats if you can....
I dont see the posts from Z man,Dennis ,Jim,Greg and dad,etc...as we used to...Im not talking about Mats,he`s just got jacks*it to do these days,so he sits on the forum...Hey Mats..

French cars are shit and shit expensive to service and bloody awful and unreliable and expensive and friends don't let friends drive french cars and you wait years for parts.
Hey Baz.
Funny job this, sometimes I can't even have lunch and sometimes I have nothing for a couple of weeks...
I think we lost a lot of people in the transition but mostly those irritating wankers that was anonymous, good riddance!
Generally internet forums seem to slow down a bit during the autumn (probably because most of the boys think they have all the time in the world before next summer...
)
It will get better during the winter, trust me.
We probably dosn't see as many posts now because the forum is sooo much better to find information in, you can actually use a search function instead of randomly pick subjects and read through because you vaguely remember someone posting som nice info in it, offtopic was just the beginning...
With this forum you don't have to post a new thread every time you need to ask something because you can find the info pretty easy.

Mats, yea,I agree the forum is better and easier to use, all credit to Mike.(hell, looked at my posts again, maybe its my damn spelling again..........)
Back to buss.I also get the idea Greg is abcent for the way he was treated when he released all the info on his exceptional work on his supercharged project..This man did well and in my opinion was treated shabbily.
JJ and myself had our differences,Id like to say that nobody remembers the unpleasantness at that time, but im sure we all do...Jj and I are friends today and it was sad that we allowed it to go public..cpuld this episode also contribute to the present situation??
Then there is the post from patzo in Ozz.I noticed no one cared to comment ....also history from the old .org??I dont know..
how about some honest comments from you guys.....(hellooooo michael.....)

Ok Mats, good one,we are slowly getting to the cause/causes of the downswing...you and enyone else want to eloborate more??
Im not on any mission here but to see how we can ALL get the site back to where it was....under present circumstances we might have to ask Mike to draw up some ground rules or ettiquette(spelling)for the forum....these are ideas Im throwing around, comments??

The change from .org to .com combined with the huge success that the BB is today have slowed traffic. There has been a loss of momentum. It will take time to recover. I agree w Mats, Northern hemisphere Winter will see more traffic, when folks get busier with maintenance and upgrades.
One of the strengths of this site is that it is free of the irrelevant dribbling twit type posts that the BB is so full of. If I want to know about American Hotrod V's Overhaulin', other peoples' hobbies/afflictions, what folks think re Ferrari vs Lamborghini, what kind of shoes are on your feet.......I know where to go. It can be like a sober me in a bar full of drunks over there.

Had chat with Barry this evening about all this.First off I must say that this site has led to me making some very good friends. When I have needed help or advice they have always been more than willing.
I sometimes get the feeling that some members don't even enjoy the pure art of just driving their GTV's for the pleasure of it anymore.I am too scared to even profer advice much anymore for fear of being blasted about it's possible accuracy.Hek I am the first to admit I am no mechanic and my skills are rather limited.
I think I had Barry in fits of laughter tonight as he was trying to advise me over the phone how to check for a short in my Gotech harness...
Alfa's are fun and driving is supposed to be just that and that's what the site should reflect. How many of you just get in to your car and drive no where in particular just because you love your Alfa and driving aswell ?
This site got me back into driving GTV'a and I would hate to see it go down...it's part of my Alfa life now.

I still think the forum is really healthy. It is easier to find information so no need to make daft posts. I still love reading the upgrade posts and dreaming of Glenwood engines and RS suspension even though I know that my wife has to get out of the car so it can go in the underground garage without grounding even with a standard ride height. My most important impending modification will be the fitment of a baby seat and probably roof rack too next year! The rest of you go for it guys! I'm still going to try to keep it going as a family car for the next few years.

Well I hope it's not dieing a slow death as I really enjoy this forum. Most everyday at lunch I get on and see what's happening around the world with you fellow transaxle characters.
It is interesting to note how many people are reading the various posts versus actually writing something themselves. I wonder how many readers have never posted on this site? Some subjects have a rather large readership. Maybe that's a sign this forum is still strong.
The point was made about some of the regulars not getting on as often as they used to. As was said, many of them are quite sharp when it comes to these cars and just don't need the forum as a reference anymore. I'm not sure how to draw them back onto this bulliten board, maybe with more wisecracks and friendly poking ? I imagine some people tend to get busy and just can't put in the time. Greg Gordon comes to mind as I remember him posting away from his home base once in a while when traveling.
I did send Michael a little money to help cover site expenses. Did anyone else ? If he's not getting the financial support he needs to host this site, that can put a damper on enthusiasm to maintain it.
I guess one last thing to up the interest would be for people to post write-ups on adventures they've had with these cars. As an example, my wife, kid, and I went on a nice fall season drive down along the western side of the Washington state Cascade mountain range with about eight other Alfas, a Lotus Europa, and an old Austin Healy 3000. Great drive, great roads, etc. Now there were no bar fights, cop chases, or other exciting things like that to write about, but I figure some of you guys must be wild enough to have a few stories to share. Or how about stories from the track or open road comparing your car to others you've had a run with ?
So there's my 0.027 cents worth . . .

I'm going to laser cut that into a titanium plaque and put it over my car in the garage...DaveH wrote: One of the strengths of this site is that it is free of the irrelevant dribbling twit type posts that the BB is so full of. The BB has just gotten too big and too offtopic, you have to wade, yes wade through whining whats-wrong-with-my-little-red-sportscar (spider). jeez...
This board is just so free of all that crap and I love it!

Sure we go offtopic but it's mostly going from a topic about forged pistons to discuss compressor diagrams or something which isn't really offtopic.
If I want to read yet another thread about Alfa returning to the US I know where to go.

This board went sour when it all of a sudden was about selling stuff or screaming about everybody else trying to sell stuff, that was pretty bad taste and it is still going on but nowadays nobody actually bother to react.
There, now I said it. The board will probebly explode again but if that is what it needs to evolve from this paralyzation so be it.
